Introduction to Instruments

Welcome to our exciting introduction to musical instruments for children ages 7 and up! Our program is designed to ignite a lifelong passion for music through five weeks of engaging and interactive weekly lessons.

At Music on the Westside, we believe that early exposure to instruments can have a profound impact on a child's development. That's why we have carefully curated a curriculum that introduces four popular instruments: guitar, piano, drums, and violin. Each instrument holds its unique charm and offers a gateway to a world of musical possibilities.

Our five-week program is structured to provide a thoughtful, fundamental understanding of each instrument and a fifth week for playing together in a band-like setting, while ensuring a fun and enjoyable learning experience. Here's what your child can expect during their musical journey with us:

  1. Guitar: Week one focuses on the guitar, where children will learn the basics of strumming, plucking, and playing simple melodies. They will discover the versatility of this popular instrument and gain an understanding of chords and rhythm.
  2. Piano: Week two introduces the enchanting world of the piano. Children will learn the fundamentals of reading sheet music, playing melodies, and exploring various techniques. They will discover the power of this timeless instrument and develop a strong foundation in music theory.
  3. Drums: Week three brings the excitement of rhythm and percussion through the drums. Children will learn how to hold drumsticks, understand basic drum patterns, and explore various beats. They will discover the joy of creating infectious rhythms and feel the energy of drumming.
  4. Voice: Week four delves into the beautiful melodies of the voice. Children will be introduced to proper breathing techniques, chest vs head voice, and reading music specifically tailored for the voice. They will explore the expressive qualities of their own voice and develop an appreciation for their differences in styling.
  5. Band: Week five, the students will choose an instrument and play it while the others play their own instruments to sound like a cohesive band.

Throughout the program, our experienced instructors will guide and inspire your child, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment. We believe in a hands-on approach, allowing each student to explore their creativity and develop their musical abilities at their own pace.

By the end of the four weeks, your child will have gained a solid understanding of each instrument, a grasp of fundamental music theory, and a newfound appreciation for the power of music. They will have had the opportunity to experience the joy of playing different instruments and discover which one resonates with them the most.

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to ignite your child's musical journey! Enroll them in our program today and watch them flourish as they embark on this musical adventure.
